Halo Infinite geofiltering system exploit causing high ping on matches

Over the past few days, Halo Infinite players have been suffering from high ping issues when entering many online matches.

But, now the new ping issues in Halo Infinite have another reason behind it. Apparently, some players are taking advantage of an exploit in the geofiltering system, according to an official confirmation.

According to reports, the high ping issue in Halo Infinite is bothering many players. This leads to noticeable competitive disadvantages, such as delayed actions compared to other players in the same match.

What about being placed in 160-250 ping lobbies every few games?

Maybe I haven’t gone through this sub enough, but it looks like desync is getting more attention than this issue. In all other FPS games I get a constant 20-30ms ping and I know for a fact that it’s not because I have “bad internet”.

I’ve been tracking my games, and it seems like 1 out of 3 or 4 games I’m placed in has an incredibly high ping.

Apparently, those affected by the issue experience it in the vast majority of matches they play. This particularly affects competitive games, as it negatively impacts their stats (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, seven, 8, 9, ten, 11, 12, 13).

What is each game rated at 220 pings?

It’s not my internet. Every quick match or event I play is 50 ping, but 9/10 rated matches (solo and team) are 220 ping or more. Makes most games very aggravating and difficult to play. Anyone else get this? The same thing happens to my friend who is on the other side of the country.

The cause of the problem: an exploit of the geofiltering system

Currently, the company is aware of the problem. Additionally, they reveal that their investigations found the cause: players taking advantage of an exploit/backdoor in the geofiltering system.

Apparently, some players take advantage of the aforementioned exploit to affect others’ ping rate and gain competitive advantages in battles (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

I just confirmed that it was because of the geofiltering of players in your matches. This is not intended and the team is working to resolve this issue quickly due to the difficult experience these bad actors create for everyone else in the game. We will share even more information soon.

The company is currently working to resolve these issues. However, there is no estimated arrival date yet for a patch that will permanently fix Halo Infinite’s high ping issues related to geofiltering.
